San Joaquin County is made of 16 fire districts. Fire districts include Lodi Fire, Manteca City Fire Department, Clements Fire District, Escalon Fire District, Farmington Fire District, French Camp-McKinley Fire District, Liberty Fire District, Linden Peters Fire District, Lathrop Manteca Fire District, Mokelumne Fire District, Montezuma Fire District, Ripon Fire District, Stockton Fire Department, Tracy Fire Department, Waterloo Morada Fire District, and Woodbridge Fire District.

The Escalon Fire District:
The Escalon Fire District, formed in 1912, provides fire suppression and rescue operations around the clock to a district that covers 65 square miles of primarily agricultural land. There are 35 volunteers who operate 8 different pieces of equipment owned by the district. The district includes the city of Escalon, and is located in the southeast corner of San Joaquin County in Northern California.

The Lathrop-Manteca Fire District:
The Lathrop-Manteca Fire District covers 100 square miles including the recently incorporated City of Lathrop. The District employees 28 career personnel and 17 reserve firefighter and staffs three strategically located fire stations. The Fire District is organized to maintain career personnel on duty, 24 hours a day, year round, to respond to emergencies from three fire stations. The Fire District's main fire station is located in the center of the City of Lathrop. The authorized career personnel strength of the Fire District includes 28 uniformed employees, a Fire Chief, a Deputy Chief, (2) Division Chiefs, (9) Fire Captains and (15) Firefighters/Engineers. A reserve firefighter roster of members is maintained to augment the fire suppression force.The Fire Services Division of The Community Development Department provides numerous services for the public and construction industry on behalf of Fire Districts throughout the unincorporated areas of San Joaquin County.
